David's Manifesto
Christian. A word that has been interpreted many ways by many people. What does it really mean? Literally, Christian means Christ follower. So what does it mean to follow Jesus Christ? "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." Luke 9:23 Christ wants us to abandon the trivial pursuits of this earth. The temporal events of this world have no bearing on eternity. Only your commitment to God means anything in the end. No business deal, diploma, dream car, or even relationship will matter on the day that we are judged by God Almighty.
God has a plan. Every single thing - every test, every trial, every triumph - that happens to you in this life is a part God's perfect plan for your life. Every encounter or situation was planed out for you by God. It is your job to take advantage of every opportunity God gives you.
Ultimately, we are left with one choice: the choice of God. Either we accept his ways and celebrate, or we are separated forever. Jesus tells us that by believing in Him, we are saved. The choice to be saved is an easy one. Who doesn't want to save their soul and live in eternal glory? Who doesn't want to go to a place of unspeakable joy? Who doesn't want to worship the Almighty Creator? And who wants the ultimate separation - a place of unending pain? When we think of it that way, most of what we devote our lives to seems rather worthless.
There is, in fact, NOTHING more important than serving God. The few years we have here on earth had better be used effectively, because they will determine where our souls find their place in eternity. Nothing can be more important than working towards our new life with Christ.
And there is no time! "Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown." Rev. 3:11 Christ is coming! There is no escaping the fact that this life will end. Every breath must be breathed with the thought of God's glory in it. We seek You Lord because You first sought us.
