What am I in This For?

When I first came to God, I did so out of selfishness. I wanted to avoid going to Hell. What I wanted was an enjoyable hereafter. Today I understand that God paid my debt out of love. All who accept His gift (through loving Him) will be spending eternity loving Him. This has two very large implications:

1. I can't be in this for myself. If I profess Christian faith, it should be out of love for God, not the selfishness of my own desire to escape the justice of Hell

2. The object of God's plan is not punishment, rather, punishment is a byproduct of the problem created by not loving Him back.
